At halftime of today's Arkansas/Kentucky game on CBS, analyst Seth Davis proclaimed Memphis coach John Calipari as his pick as coach of the year. He added Memphis should win CUSA, the conference tourney, & then become a no. 1 seed... Davis says they there would be no doubt Cal is it, especially considering how young the team is.

Nice to see ol' Seth coming around.

Today provides the stark reality that football season is over. I see a little college basketball on my program guide, some NBA & even Arena Football. Oh, before the hate-mail starts, there's the Winter X Games on ESPN. Yippee.

Sure, there's one big game yet to be played in just a week. But then that is it & a nearly six-month depression starts. The good news is national signing day is Wednesday; spring practice is only a few weeks away; Danton Bartow's Xplorers will help whet my appetite for the pigskin.

The good news: the Daytona 500 is only three weeks away!
