My Corner of the World

Today's Senior Bowl was barely in the record books when an email appeared in my in-box asking what I thought about DeAngelo Williams now. Did he live up to his billing? Did his stock drop?

Slow down, partner...

The Senior Bowl is more than just playing in the game, which Williams did & represented the University of Memphis with pride. For the past week DeAngelo & all those invited have been worked out by NFL staffs & were monitored closely by coaches from every team in the pros.

I am yet to find one negative story about the smiling kid from Wynne, Ark.

Williams purchased 60 tickets for his family, wrote one reporter. Mel Kiper Jr. wrote on ESPN.com that DeAngelo was the best in practice the entire week.

DeAngelo Williams will be just fine.

I do hope Memphis kicker Stephen Gostkowski turned enough heads this week to get a shot.

---

For those in the "Tigers should be winning by more" crowd, today's basketball game was for you. Memphis beat UCF, 94-61.

---

We all know that Texas A&M is the "home of the 12th man." I hadn't realized they registered it as a trademark in the 1990s. Well, neither had the Super Bowl-bound Seattle Seahawks, who started using the "12th man" moniker in the early 1980s.

So what happens next? Does this end up in court? Does every announced which has used this worn-out cliche throughout the years owe the Aggies some money?
